The Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic, one of the nation’s premier celebrity golf events, is excited to announce this year’s celebrity lineup for their annual week long fundraising efforts for The V Foundation for Cancer Research, as well as several new celebrities that are scheduled to attend.  Net proceeds from this year’s events will benefit UNC’s Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center in the form of a grant to fund research for Ewing’s Sarcoma in the name of ESPN analyst, cancer survivor, and long time Jimmy V supporter Stuart Scott.

The Classic will kick off their fundraising week (August 20 – 28, 2011) with their Racquets for Research tennis event at the Raleigh Racquet Club and will culminate with the 18th Annual Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic at Lonnie Poole Golf Course on NC State’s Centennial Campus on Sunday, August 28. This year, several new celebrities have agreed to lend their time and efforts to support The Classic’s mission to fund cancer research in North Carolina. Joining The Classic this year, will be N’Sync star, Joey Fatone, actor/model, Boris Kodjoe, Retired NFL Great and Super Bowl Champion, Derrick Brooks, HGTV Host, Shane Tallant and actor/singer Alfonso Rubiero who is most notably known for his role of Carlton on the Fresh Prince of Belaire. Joining these new celebrities will be several fan favorites including a number of Carolina Hurricanes, ESPN Analysts, and NBA Hall-of-Famer and TNT analyst Charles Barkley.

Each year, The Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic brings together dozens of celebrities, local and national sponsors, and over 400 volunteers to raise money for cancer research.
